How Does It Work?
Maple Leaf School (MLS) is a private, asynchronous, Ministry-inspected, online high school offering high-quality Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) credit courses. We offer over 35 courses from grades 9-12, all of which count towards the OSSD. Universities and colleges around the world recognize the OSSD credits issued by MLS.
Enrolment:
Students may enroll any day of the year and begin their course(s) within 24 hours of registration. Students have up to 12 months to complete each course. This model allows students to work at their own pace and to create their own schedules. All students are eligible to take courses with MLS.
Support:
MLS offers live tutoring classes by professional and experienced teachers.
Assessment & Evaluation:
The assessment and evaluation strategies of our school follows the Ministry of Education’s Growing Success document. Growing Success articulates the vision the Ministry has for the purpose and structure of assessment and evaluation techniques.
The Final Grade
The evaluation for this course is based on the student’s achievement of curriculum expectations and the demonstrated skills required for effective learning. The final percentage grade represents the quality of the student’s overall achievement of the expectations for the course and reflects the corresponding level of achievement as described in the achievement chart for the discipline.
Proctoring
The tests are typically a paper-pen evaluation written at a mutually agreed time, date, and location. The tests will be proctored, meaning a suitable adult with a dedicated identifiable and authentic email address will supervise you writing the tests. This process ensures the security and integrity of the test. Any person related or affiliated to the student in a personal way cannot serve as a test supervisor.
Course Materials:
All online course content and assessments exist within our secure learning environment. No textbooks are required.
